Proban for Tick Control (Including
the Paralysis Tick)
Proban
(cythioate) is an effective method of killing the paralysis on your dog
and therefore reduce the likelihood of tick paralysis occurring. Proban
tablets should be given at 1 tablet per 10kg every 48hrs for eradication of ticks (When using
Proban Liquid: 1ml per 5kg every 48hrs). It is important to weigh your dog for accurate dosing and it is important not to under dose - always round up to the next dose
e.g. a dog weighing 21kg should be given 2 1/2 tablets every 48hrs
Administer at approximately the same time every day
After administration Proban is absorbed and circulates in the dogs bloodstream. The ticks have to feed on blood before they cause any paralysis and therefore die before causing too much harm.
Proban is not affected by rain, washing or swimming.
Proban should not be used with other organophosphate (OP) based products including rinses, shampoos, sprays, collars & other OP-based oral treatments.
It is safe to use with Program, Sentinel, Frontline, Advantage, Capstar and all pyrethrin or permethrin based products
Daily searching for ticks is still essential. The areas to be especially thorough of are: around the face, neck ears, shoulders & between the toes
