Active Ingredient: nitenpyram

Capstar provides fast relief from fleas

Research indicates that Capstar is 95-100% effective 24 hours after a single dose. It starts working within 30 minutes and 95-100% of fleas are dead within 7 hours.
The active ingredient, Nitenpyram, interferes with normal nerve to nerve transmission in the flea leading constant stimulation of the nerve causing paralysis of the flea.

Safety of Capstar:

  • Can be used at the recommended dose in pups & kittens from 4 weeks of age
  • Can be used in pregnant and lactating animals
  • Is compatible with other drugs eg heartworm, wormers, flea development inhibitors such as Program & Sentinel
  • High margin of safety: In trials, dogs were given 60 times the required dose daily for 52 weeks without any adverse side effects
