Advocate is safe to use in puppies from 7 weeks of age and kittens from 9 weeks of age.

How can Advocate help my pet ?

Used for the prevention of:
  • Heartworm – spread by mosquitoes, so all dogs and cats in such areas are at risk. Causes heart & lung disease and eventually death. When applied monthly, Advocate will prevent heartworm infection in dogs and cats.
    {Dogs must be tested for heartworm before commencing Advocate if they have not been on heartworm prevention before}
  • Fleas are fleas ! They cause discomfort and itching to your pet and in some dogs and cats, Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD). Advocate is ideal for flea control and reducing the incidence of FAD:
    • Will kill over 98% of fleas within 12 hours of the first application
    • Fleas that jump onto a treated pet will be killed within an hour
    • Effective even after swimming, bathing and exposure to rain
  • Roundworm (immature & adult) – causes diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In younger dogs it can stunt growth and give them a “pot belly” appearance. As round can be transmitted to puppies soon after they are born, treatment can commence as young as 2 weeks of age. Roundworm can cause disease in humans
  • Hookworm – causes bloody diarrhoea, anaemia & in some cases death;   damage the wall of the intestines causing them to bleed internally leading to black faeces. Larvae and be swallowed or simply migrate through the skin. Hookworm can cause disease in humans
  • Whipworm – can cause bloody, jelly-like diarrhoea and anaemia. Are picked up from the environment, often difficult to find when testing
  • Ear Mites in Cats– causes ear irritation which can lead to self-trauma and infections of the ear canal. More on Ear mites here
  • Sarcoptes Mange – causes the condition know as Scabies which is the parasite burrowing into the skin and causing quite a lot of irritation. More on Sacroptes here
