Spot-Ons

Frontline Original
 When used every 2 weeks Frontline Original will help to control the paralysis tick. Frontline Original is presented in a pipette which is applied to the skin on the back of neck of your dog. The active ingredient, fiprinol, will migrate throughout the oil layer of the skin. Daily searching for ticks is still strongly recommended. Occasionally ticks will be found but they are general dead or dying and the signs of paralysis may not occur.

Frontline PLUS
 When used every 2 weeks Frontline PLUS will help to control the paralysis tick. Frontline PLUS is presented in a pipette which is applied to the skin on the back of neck of your dog. The active ingredient will migrate throughout the oil layer of the skin. Also contains methoprene to stop fleas breeding. Daily searching for ticks is still strongly recommended. Occasionally ticks will be found but they are general dead or dying and the signs of paralysis may not occur.

Advantix
 Advantix contains two proven ingredients Imidacloprid & Permethrin that work synergistically to:
- kill and repel paralysis ticks - when applied every 14 days
- kill and repel brown dog & bush ticks - over 96% of ticks are repelled after contact with a treated dog. 95% of these ticks then die after this brief exposure
- kill fleas - fleas will stop feeding within 5 minutes on treated dogs and both adults & larvae are dead in 20 minutes. Within 12 hrs of an application of Advantix 98-100% of fleas on the dog are dead

Tick Collars

Preventic Tick Collar
 Active ingredient: Amitraz which is neuro-toxic to ticks.
The active is impregnated in a thin strip of PVC which slowly liberates enough amitraz into your dogs coat to kill ticks for up to 2 months.. The amitraz spreads over the whole body migrating though the oil layer of the skin. Daily inspection is still essential especially around the head and neck

Kiltix
 Active ingredient: Flumethrin a synthetic pyrethroid and Propoxur a carbamate.
Both compounds work on the nervous system of the tick. Will control the paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyclus) for up to 6 weeks. Also controls other ticks & fleas. Daily searching is still essential, may take up to a week to be active in dogs with thick coats

Tick Rinses

Permoxin
 Active ingredient: permethrin - a third generation synthetic pyrethroid (Synthetic pyrethroids are more light stable than naturally derived pyrethrins and therefore longer acting)
* Do not use on cats.
* Do not use on puppies <12 weeks old.
Permoxin can be used as a rinse or a spray. For paralysis it is best applied as a rinse every 7 days, daily searching for ticks is essential in paralysis tick areas.

Tick Removal

Tick Twister
 This tool provides the safest way to remove ticks that is quick and painless without the need for chemicals. This method will not squeeze the ticks body leading to less problems of infection etc. Package comes with 2 twisters: one with an ultra thin opening for small ticks and another with a large opening for larger ticks
